San leucio
San Leucio has always represented the excellent in the manufacture of silk and fabrics. Fernando IV decided to transform the area of San Leucio into a manufacturing centre dedicated to silk production. The tradition continues today, through very high quality production that is exported all over the world, used for the most prestigious embassies, luxury hotel-sand cruise ships.

Concept/De Silk
De silk is a collection made from textile waste, such as silk and selvedge.
By analyzing one of the most important fabric for the production of silk situated in San Leucio, I realized that during the process of the finishing of the fabrics, huge quantities of very short fibre were produced and thrown. After that, recycling became the focus of my project whose aim was to investigate the disposal recycling of textile waste in the environment. In fact, it showed an innovative concept of using waste resources in order to create new design and projects.
My aim was to demonstrate that it was possible to dress in sustainable way, without losing the style, and also to promote the low cost of regenerated materials. Starting with a search for these materials in textile field, I recovered various types, such as large blocks of end-use parts, damaged selvedge wire, and irregular pieces of cloth. The final outcome of this research was the creation of a collection of outerwear which demonstrate that a simple garment made by leftover textiles can become high- quality fashion.
