Historic Inverness-shire

Historic Inverness-shire and these ancient Clava cairns on winter solstice. The sun aligning with the cairns.
Fyrish is a local landmark north of Inverness. I rode and then pushed my bike up here in time for sunrise. This was a cold day and I remember shivering all the way back down the mountain on a very cold Xmas eve.
This is general wades road between Inverness and Moy.
Another of wades road at a similar spot but a different day and an eerie "eye" has me in sight.
Another picture of the lava cairns. It really is lucky to see this on a sunny winter solstice. I had a run of about 5 years in a row where I was either working this day or it was overcast. 2001 was just perfect!
Can you just see Fyrish cairn on top of the hill to the left. The oil rigs line up in the Cromarty Firth. I was supposed to be on the summit for sunrise but I was late and had to make do with a drone shot like this from further back.
Fyrish with the sun shining through the arch.
