Adrian Piper

 

Adrian Piper is a conceptual performance artist from New York. She is famous for her ethical and racial studies throughout NY, where she would install herself in nature, pose as a variety of races, or even wear signs (as in the above image) to philisophically investigate her surroundings. She was a graduate of, and taught at Harvard University. She also studied at SVA in Manhattan. My favorite percormance series by her was called The Mythic Being where she dressed as a man with a handlebar mustache and evaluated and documented her experiences. Overlall, she was an innovative and creative performance artist.
