Independent Living in A Changing Marine Drive

In line with the UTS2114: Technologies and Ageing in Singapore syllabus, we conducted a community-based study to evaluate and analyse the issues related to ageing in Singapore and propose and recommend how we can address the gaps identified. The research project required an infographic and a pitch deck to present our findings.

Introduction
Whenever there’s a new building coming up or a pipe that needs fixing, most of us are unbothered. However, what may simply be inconveniences for us may actually be safety hazards for the elderly. This infographic examines the Marine Parade community and how the temporary construction in the area affects the lives of its older residents and their sense of independence. It also introduces Safe Journey, an app that ensures safe and independent commute around Marine Parade.
Review
During the conceptualization, I knew I wanted to showcase Marine Parade and its community but I wasn’t sure how. I had been playing with isometric designs for a while and decided to try it out for this infographic. My groupmates were also very supportive and allowed me to play around with it before fully designing it :-)

I created my own isometric guide and then built the community from there. What was most difficult (but the most fun!) I think, was adding the smaller details to each “level”. Designing this infographic allowed me to practice isometric projection and I had a lot of fun doing so :)

This infographic was made by Chinjuan, Rushil, Somil, Soohyun and Danielle.
