MIDI Mixer: V1.0
This is a MIDI (or Musical Instrument Digital Interface) electronic soundboard, most commonly used for DJing. The case seen here is made from 0.2 inch plywood and designed in Fusion 360, with the whole thing measuring 200mm length X 200mm width X 50mm height.
A custom designed PCB (Printed Circuit Board) with eight elastomer-backed NeoPixels, eight 10kΩ resistors, three rotary potentiometers, one slide potentiometer, and an Arduino Pro Micro that runs it all using Arduino code written by myself.
Real-life photos of the MIDI mixer. Note the laser cut decorations, some as assets added from NounProject, some of my own design.
Fusion 360 renderings of the case and PCB together with all accessories. Please note in particular the port allowing access to the Arduino Nano in the far-right image.
The slide that introduced me as my DJ name, DJ Grandpa. The spoken introduction went like this: "He still remembers the Great Depression, but his old timey beats will take you our of your greatest depression, its time for DJ GRANDPA!!!!!"
My performance on April 4, 2022 using the MIDI Mixer
The visuals that linked up to Event Horizon, the 10,000 LED installation in HackBerry Lab, using Processing as the medium.
