Debuted on the new GM Epsilon platform at the Geneva Motor Show in 2002, this model received three body styles - a sedan (notchback), a hatchback and a station wagon, which was released in October the following year after the debut. Initially, the premiere was to take place in 2001, along with the premiere of the new SAAB 9-3 in Frankfurt, but GM decided to postpone this event.
The first photos of the Vectra C could be seen in 1999, in one of the automotive magazines, it is also interesting that in addition to the standard Vectra, the Signum model appeared, aimed at a more affluent audience, but based on approximately the same technical features, components and units and largely similar appearance.
For the entire time of production, in the engine lineup there were units with a volume of 1.6 to 3.2 liters among gasoline and from 1.9 to 3.0 among diesel engines.
In September 2005, the Vectra underwent a restyling, a car with an updated appearance was presented in Frankfurt, a little later, about a year later, the line of units was also updated, and new modifications also appeared.
In the UK, the position of the third generation Vectra was not so strong in comparison with the models of previous generations, the Ford Mondeo was a serious competitor to the car. Nevertheless, in 2007, the model managed to surpass Ford in sales, and in January of the same 2007, the station wagon Vectra was awarded the title "Car of the Year 2007" by "What Car?" magazine. in the nomination "Estate".
In July 2008, the production of the model was discontinued.
