CONCEPT
The city is a constantly developing complex mechanism. Its cityscape forms the fabric of the urban surroundings, in which people dwell leaving a legacy behind.
Personal Topographies is a proposal for a modular street furniture, that will enhance the urban fabric at Aldgate area. The proposal explores the cityscape form and tries to impliment in its design the personal interaction with the furniture. When one sits the structure will envelope the persons body in ergonomically friendly form. Interactive design and ergonomics both aim to provoke social and place interaction. While the overall shape of the furniture is realised visually in a square form, the people are encouraged to
play with it by sitting, lying and even walking on the surface, thus forming personal topography stamping the structure with the form of their bodies. The design comes in a long (L1500xW500xH480) and short (L500xW500xH480) versions enabling modular transformation and installation variations.
