Velvet Spectrum partnered with the Adobe Aero team to craft a series of 3D assets for the Creative Cloud Community to experiment with and use in Augmented Reality.
Inspired by a love for traditional tattoo art, we set out to reimagine the 2D artform in a 3D world.
Wanting to depict the depth and shading that tattoo artists use to apply their 2D artworks, we built out our objects in 3D with custom materials created in Substance Painter.

We created the below postcard design as a way to demonstrate our creative process from static visual to fully interactive augmented reality experience. Using a recent photo taken at Cape Disappointment State Park as our background, we then created a postcard to work as a frame on top, but to also act as the AR trigger when scanned with your mobile device.
The image anchor allows us to bring the depth of the tattoo design to life in 3D and reveal our hidden AR artwork visible as an interactive experience in Adobe Aero.
