PSA POSTER PROJECT
PROJECT BRIEF:
For this project the objective was to create a PSA poster that could bring awareness to a certain problem or issue within a community. The issue that I have chosen to address with my posters is smoking. Smoking is pretty much a problem in all community's and is greatly affecting the lives everyone who does it. Unfortunately the demographic of smoking is not limited to just adults, but young teens are also dabbling in this destructive activity. My hope is that my poster can help prevent young people from smoking in the first place. If they can learn about the negative effects that smoking could have on their life's, I truly believe that they will be less likely to smoke in the future. I will demonstrate the step by step process I went through in creating these posters below.
STEP 1- RESEARCH:
After doing some research I found four negative side effects that are caused by smoking (of course there are more than just four negative side effects of smoking, these are just the four I focused on.)
1: It kills you.
2: It makes your fingers ugly.
3: It causes cancer.
4: Its dang expensive.
I then narrowed down on the specifics and statistics of each of these topics and voila, I had a base to build my posters around. Which means I could start working on visual concepts as you will see below.
STEP 2- BRAINSTORM AND SKETCH:The main focus of this step is to write down your ideas and create rough visuals for said ideas.
STEP 3- PHOTOSHOP ASSETS AND VISUAL EXPERIMENTS:
For this step I went on the internet and found a bunch of images that I thought would work well for my posters. You can find images like these on websites such as Shutterstock, Rawpixel, Unsplash, Pixabay, and Google Images(Although if you plan on using any such assets for business purposes you should always make sure to check the licensing terms). With these images I was able to create some visual experiments which helped me to further visualize and solidify the ideas I had come up with in the previous stage.
STEP 4- DESIGN DRAFTS:
This section is where the real designing begins, everything up to this point has been preparatory. But now that a solid base has been established; it's time to begin refining the designs that I have created to make them look more presentable. After each draft I would submit it into a discussion board where i would receive feedback from my peers and professor, and from there I would tweak my designs accordingly.
STEP 5- FINAL DESIGN AND MOCKUP:
At long last, the end of this project is nigh! This section is what all of my preparation and drafts has been leading up to! That’s right, this is the final design/mockup section, the part where I deliver/showcase the fruit of my labor! So get ready to have your mind blown as you witness my awesome posters haha!
