Steps for Water | Common Thirst Campaign

The 2012 Rosetta Annual Giving Campaign
1 out of every 8 people on earth lack access to clean drinking water, so in December 2011 we made a commitment to change the world.

Partnering with Water.Org, Rosetta dedicated its thought-leaders, its best-in-class technologists and its creative talents to concept and introduce Steps For Water, an initiative to build awareness of the world water crisis. Launched on Mother’s Day Weekend 2012, Steps For Water asked participants to honor Mothers everywhere by joining a nationwide, virtual walk-a-thon. Targeting sons and daughters, Steps for Water brought together 9 offices, plus friends, families, neighbors and clients to walk together as one. The goal was one million collective steps, and it was achieved not just once, but almost twice. The campaign was an overwhelming success and increased awareness of a very real global crisis. It also resulted in a $10,000 donation by the agency that went directly towards building wells, providing access to safe, clean drinking water, and helping the world’s poorest kids to grow up happy and healthy.

There were multiple elements of the campaign including a step-counting phone application developed for 4 different platforms (iOS, Android, Windows Mobile, Blackberry). The app allowed anyone, anytime from anywhere to participate, and made the experience and the cause easy to share through various social networks. It also pointed people in the right direction if they chose to make a donation on their own.
The 2011 Rosetta giving campaign was also a collaboration effort with Water.org. A parallax landing page was created in order to spark awareness about the fact that there is a lack of clean drinking water, which affects 884 million people. The site educated viewers of various facts regarding the clean water crisis and prompted thousands of dollars in donations. Visit www.commonthirst.com to learn more.
