While I was looking for a way to do butterfly illustrations without being too realistic, because the eyes, antennae and legs are not very pretty, I came across Alex Konahin's insect illustrations (www.behance.net/konahin) and I took the cue from there. I used ornaments from different styles and regions and combined them in butterfly shapes.
