Red Notice Alternative Title Sequence

MOTION GRAPHICS DESIGN
Assignment 1: Alternative Title Sequence
*THIS PROJECT IS FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY*
Title sequences in films or tv series sets the tone and mood towards the type of genre the audience is about to watch. The storyline and visual graphics of it are related to the actual film or tv series itself. Whether the person is watching it at home or in the cinema, their “experience will almost certainly have been prefaced by a bombardment of adverts or external distractions” (Lambie, R., 2011). Having a title sequence builds an emotional connection for the audience between the real world and the imagined one on film, “allowing the filmmaker to ease the viewer into the rhythm of their movie”. (Lambie, R., 2011)
On successful completion of this assignment, we will be able to describe the fundamentals principles of animation and the perception of motion, design the relationship between form and content for the purpose of storytelling, demonstrate their research and practical skills for an effective output, show their ability to work independently and learn to accept constructive criticism throughout the development of the projects, and apply the design process workflow and how to target specific audiences for their end products.
We were to create an alternative title sequence for a film or TV series of our choice. The video must incorporate a storyline between the elements that sets the context of what the film or TV series is about, without giving away important plot points. The minimum duration of the title sequence is 60 seconds, and the maximum is 90 seconds. There should also be an outro, inclusive within the stated duration that includes our name and other necessary details.
So, my chosen film for this assignment is Red Notice from Netflix.
For my alternative film or TV series title sequence, I got an inspiration from Robert Vogt's Inception title sequence. I took a liking to this title sequence because it is simple with all those vectors, but at the same time, it got some personality and aesthetics to it.
Link to Inception (2010) Title Sequence by Robert Vogt:
Before I started making the animation, I made the materials such as the transportations, backgrounds and other objects using Adobe Photoshop. I took some pictures from Google and then traced the outlines using Photoshop. I used the magnetic lasso tool to trace the objects that I needed and then painted it plain white using brush tool.
After I have done my work using Adobe Photoshop, I imported the saved file of each individual file into Adobe After Effects. By that, I started animating the objects that I edited from Adobe Photoshop. After I have done animating, I exported and rendered my work into an MP4 file format using Adobe Media Encoder.
I mainly used the color red because the title of the film is Red Notice. Each objects that I used are connected to the plot of the film.
For the first background, it is actually the outline of Italy. This is because the first part of the story took place in Italy. I inserted the outline of the car because that specific car, Alfa Romeo Giulia, also appears in Italy, ridden by one of the actors. That one egg that appears at the background means that one of the three eggs, which is a big part of the story, appears at the setting.
For the second background, it is the background of Bali, Indonesia because Bali is the second setting of the story. I added the boat object because one of the actors is using a boat to approach an island. I put the egg there because the same egg that appeared in Italy, was brought in Bali.
The third background represents Russia. This is because the third setting is in Russia, despite in the film, they were in a prison. The helicopter object is there because they used a helicopter to escape from the prison. I didn't add an egg object because the egg does not appear here.
The fourth background is an outline of the Big Ben, which is in London. Not much happened in London according to the film. The jet object is added because they planned their next heist on the jet. Similar to Russia, the egg does not appear here so it does not appear in the background.
The heist for the second egg took place in Valencia, so I added the background of Valencia. Since the second egg is in Valencia, the egg is added in the background. I added the bull object because two of the actors are met with a bull during their escape.
The last setting of the plot of the story took place in Argentina, hence the Buenos Aires background. I added some guns because there are gunfights happened when they tried to steal the last egg. That is why the egg object is in the background.
Thank you for your time!
