A concept proposal for the Western Region Apparel Brand for its own personal identity & its collaborations with individuals & companies such as KAWS Companion & Sean Wotherspoon.

A Little Bit on Nike

Nike is an apparel streetwear brand that accompanies the Converse & Jordan families & has been one of the leading brands in the sportswear & streetwear industries ever since it was founded by Bill Bowerman in Eugene, Oregon 1964.
Throughout Nike's longevity as a company, they have succeeded in collaborations with many artists & companies & have created community favorite pieces of merchandise within the hypebeast & fashion cultures.

Why This Proposal?
Why this proposal & why "Abroad" as a title? This campaign concept was done in order for possible experimentation within Nike's brand identity and its collaborations with other businesses. The subject at hand is descripted as "Abroad" to showcase the journey it took Nike to be the one of the biggest and best leaders within the apparel industries for the past 60 years.



  





Nike Chromatic Collection - Abroad 2022
Coming to a completely new concept, it was decided to involve a very colorful presentation alongside a typographic & iconographic partner. Using different styles such as swiss typography, grunge, as well as the chromatic feel in these pieces, I was able to create eye-catching & colorful concept advertisements for this possible campaign.

Using distortion effects as well as film burns & light leaks, I was able to create textures that can make the promotions feel more engaging and appealing to the eye. Also involving 3D elements, flares, and displacements, it creates an unsettling vision around the piece which allows for the viewer to have full focus on the product at hand.

The Meaning Behind "Chromatic"
Chromatic is essentially a descriptive term for being very open, colorful & exotic. With this in consideration, a concept was created using very vibrant and seemingly unusual color schemes to engage the viewer more into what they are viewing. 

Having many colors can also be represented by a rainbow, and within the more western art cultures, rainbows are a representation of signs of hope as well as promises for better times to come. And having Nike being based in Oregon; a western state, it was a perfect chance to have the two topics join together and create a concept on it.

Nike Jordan x KAWS Collaboration - Abroad 2022
Along Nike's journey, they have done several collaborations with some of the most recognizable brands in the streetwear & hypebeast cultures. Two of these iconic personalities are KAWS Companion and Jordan.

With Nike holding the contributions of Jordan's family, as well as coming into consideration with Brian Donnelly (Kaws), the Jordan 4 Kaws Companion shoes came to life
& was listed at a retail price for around $1,500.

This imagery involves KAWS Companion Dolls and sets of photography of the Jordan 4 in itself. Using both the grey and black colorways as well as an image of the black Kaws doll, I present a proposal to Nike: Product Promotions for KAWS Companion collaborating with Nike.



   


   
    



Stylization Decisions
Continuing on, a more urban, grunge, and inclusive creative direction for this portion was done to set in stone what is typically first thought of whilst thinking of shoes in the form of the ones presented; the KAWS Jordan 4s, it is more often than not that they are presented in either a more cleansed fashion choice or a strict y2k guide for the presentation. (y2k meaning year 2000; designs that would have been done in the early 2000s era.)

This form of representation was created using photoshop tools such as Blend-if & fabric with hazy overlays, as well as the overall cluttered presentation whilst still following a proper hierarchy such as having the focuses on each piece of work being the product that is wanted to be promoted.




  
   



Companion Gallery

Virgil Abloh | Off-White™ x Nike
Ever since 2016, Virgil Abloh was a designer for the Nike families. He had individually become a favored artist amongst the streetwear culture with his unique works around many of the largest apparel brands today; Louis Vuitton, Nike, Converse, Jordan & founding Off-White™.

Recently, at the age of 41, Abloh's passing was caused due to cardiac angiosarcoma, a more rare type of cancer. He was a father, friend, & an idol to many, he had brought new visions that were adored, may he rest in power.

With his passing, he was able to leave behind a beautiful legacy amongst his accomplishments and his types of work.This is a small collection of posters to serve as a tribute to his cause. Presented below are a few of Virgil's finest creations.
