This Samping word comes from the Malacca Malay Sultanate. Samping is a complement to Baju Melayu for men. Samping is also called ‘samping’ which is derived from the word sampingan. However, the sampingan word changed to the Samping word after the ‘baju melayu’ was spread to the Riau Islands at that time. To some extent, this booklet can also add knowledge of the meaning behind the Samping.
