FINAL COLOR BOARD FOR PRINTS
CONCEPT FOR PRINT
Mountains having shape of triangles and apex pointing upwards represent the ascending energy of Shiva that flows towards the depth of cosmic consciousness. Rivers flowing in between the mountains into the valley the shape of inverted triangle between mountains represent the descending stream of divine energy from Shakti. This beautiful analogy served as a wonderful idea for my further exploration, which ultimately culminated in the construction of my final project.

It is this play within the white print and the black print that brings out the duality in its best form. Both the patterns are necessary for their individual existence. The black in itself cannot be the subject if the white is not there to support (/contradict) it and the white cannot be the subject if the black is not there to support it.
However when the content of black is greater than white it overpowers the design in those areas and vice versa. The design however is made in a way to strike balance between the negative and positive to create an illusion of a union, a combination that is just perfect to depict Shiva and Shakti.

FINAL COLOUR BOARD FOR BRAID
BRAID CONCEPT

The concept of Shiva being the power while Shakti as the one holding the power was very intriguing. I decided to show this concept through different braids. The basic ideas was to convey the feeling that Shiva represented the condense, energy filled core, while Shakti was to represent the free flowing nature through the braids.
I experimented with various materials and fabrics before narrowing down to my final choices. Shiva is characterized using the brass material, which portrays him as rigid and unchangeable force, and Shakti is represented using the flowing braids. The braids are in earthy tones to depict Shakti as Prakriti /nature.
