I made this project for my Bachelor work. It is ranked among Wing chairs. Goal of my work was to find character features for wing-chair like animals have. Chair shapes resemble fins, which are character types for fishes. The fins are used as an interface with an organic design and a reference to the diversity and color of marine animals and coral.
I considered in the project situation of small or middle sized upholstery manufacturers. So the result is modern design intended for traditional manufacturing proces.
Fin Chair clearly shows its secondary character by color and shape. Also, these characteristics are functional surfaces, which are typical for wing-chairs. Fins at the head are closing space inside and fins on the seat gently open up to the outside. In this connection shapes into a coherent design, chair provides for a sense of privacy space but also mentally invalidated a seated man from the outside world.
