The Aerial Tour of Topeka
This video spanned over a three year period of time and was done with three different commercial drones. Due to moving back and forth from Kansas to China, I was never able to complete the project at once. Also, one drone crashed and put a halt to taking videos for a period of time.
What really sparked my interest in aerial photography and videography was the fact that there were many times when I literally would've had to been floating in mid-air or in a restricted building in order to get the shot that I wanted. A drone solved a lot of those issues.
The picture in Berlin represents one of the greatest lengths I went to getting a shot. I had somehow gained access to this office building, and upon finding out that the only accessible areas once on the upper floors was through private businesses. So I went to exit the building via the stairs and noticed that there was a ventilation grate that could be opened. I subsequently crawled out onto what seemed to be an external air conditioning unit in order to get the shot show below.
