January. 1953, the Soviet Government decrees to set up a watch-making industry in the Belarusian Soviet Republic, now Belarus. 

 

February. 1955. The first building of the Minsk Watch Plant is under construction. Curious fact: it was built mainly by women

March. The first Soviet female watch model is made by designers and watchmakers of Luch

This is the April page of the Calendar for Luch, Minsk Watch Factory. It celebrates the Watch College opened 40 years ago to help train personnel for the factory in Belarus. Some 13000 people have graduated from the College. 

1968, the year when the Minsk Watch factory engineers create their iconic movement 1801.1; and the year another iconic folk rock band is created. “Lyavony” later - “Pesnyary”

Minsk Watch Factory erects it’s famous clock tower with a dial of six meters. It’s minute hand span is 2 meters

August. 2005 marks creation of a legendary one hand movement
