Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Darlington Borough Council and a wide range of partner groups and organisations are combining forces to embark on a spectacular celebration for the bicentenary of the Darlington and Stockton Railway in 2025.

Stockton Borough Council wanted to reach out to adults and children across Teesside and County Durham. To achieve this Stockton-based Illustration Duo Abby+Owen designed a children’s activity pack to distribute to local schools and collaborated with me to produce the animated teaser video to promote the Railway’s 200th Anniversary.

As with any video content, it has to engage its target audience from the start. Therefore, the railway’s 200th-anniversary video had to be exciting, compact and inform the viewer of Stockton Council’s plans for the next 5 years, whilst being visually compelling for a younger audience. 

This was achieved by animating the illustrations created by Abby+Owen to bring them to life in video format, ensuring that the projects visual style was maintained throughout.
