Fresco
This one was a fun experiment. Using a sketch from some time ago, I decided to play around with mixing mediums in Adobe Fresco: Vector line art mixed with vibrant oil paints.
Obviously, this one went through more than a few changes as it progressed. Initially, her body was more square with the frame — but considering the attitude in her eyes, it seemed more natural for her to be looking over her shoulder.

The roses — which were already distracting, given their contrasting texture — were also made smaller as her personality began to evolve.

The background texture and color (which invokes a sense of hacienda architecture to me) really helped give her mix of mediums a more cohesive look.
The personality and attitude of this portrait really surprised me as I worked on her. It's always fun to create something that takes on a life of its own in that way — forcing you to yield to what the artwork wants, rather than adapting it to fit into some preconceived notion of what it should be.

Quite clearly, she was sure of what she wanted to be long before I had figured it out.
