Burri Series is the result of a meticulous process of photo editing.
Thanks to an algorithm provided by Adobe Photoshop, Content-Aware Fill command, I isolated portions of pixels and replaced them with the adjacent ones. I repeated this operation over and over again, continuously, until it was impossible to tell what the initial image looked like. At last, I got some deconstructed patterns and textures.
The photographs turn out to be a pictorial experimentation: by using brushes and tools, I created new shapes, forms and modules, chose what to keep and what to change, but above all I allowed my own purposes to dominate and control the machine. What I got then are full-fledged paintings, in which the subject dissolves and a unique imagery emerges, and Photoshop is just one of the countless tools that will help me do that.
In this perspective, the “nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed” law becomes an explicit invitation to always keep our eyes wide open, because the world is full of interesting objects waiting to be discovered.
