Website Redesign on Wix.com
A friend of mine invited me to make some changes to his website on Wix.com. He hired someone make his website.
Excited to practice some visual design, and give this page a make over. I focussed on the color, font, theme, space and transitions. I did not change the information or content.
The first three images are the Before photos. Below is the landing page, then the about me, and next was achievements/projects.

Still looking at the image above I notice the circles in the background, the floating linkedin icon on the far right side of the page. The gradient Menu box in the top corner. I'm going to sweep all this out.
Next, scrolling down, we have an About Me. The Header is a long sentence, in my opinion. It's a big impact statement, and then the paragraph is about the company.
The text used to be centered and so I aligned it left.

Scrolling down again we get Achievement and Projects. I take note of the glowing face in the background, and the highlighter blue chat box in the bottom corner. These text fields were cascading in from the left.
Below is the new landing Page.
Bluebonds.org is all about investment bonds for Ocean conservation, Climate Action, and Social Impact on communities. The earlier site was a dark blue and I suspect the initial designer wanted to give it that deep ocean feel.
However, working with dark colors can be tricky, unless you don't overdo it. It's exciting to get a mouthful of colors with a background but It shouldn't get in the way of your message.
I decided to use an ocean image, and bring the message forward with a black background, modified opacity.
This image is way more impactful with this message because the coral reef in the background is highlighter yellow which means it's dying, or if you know your stuff, it's bleaching. These impact bonds are being communicated as a solution to this problem.

Scrolling down the image ends and we arrive at clean page. Keeping in tune with an ocean theme I decide to make my font color a dark blue. I think I should make the header and paragraph font bigger, paragraph is at 21 or 24 right now. I think...
Going into achievements and projects. Instead of the cascading text flying in, I make it simple but having it aligned to the left for easy reading.
I'm still putting in some finishing touches. I'd like to know what other people think of this redesign. You can check the current live site at Bluebonds.org.
