Review of Project Runway

Project Runway is a reality show that follows a group of brilliant fashion designers as they compete to display their own collection at Bryant Park during New York City's Fall or Spring Fashion Week. The privilege of performing in one of Bryant Park's main tents is one that cannot be bought or won easily. The shows of well-known designers such as Vera Wang, Dolce and Gabanna, and Calvin Klein are the most well-attended during Fashion Week; but, with the premiere of Project Runway in December of 2004, the competing designers have drawn large crowds.

Heidi Klum, a German supermodel, hosts the Project Runway series, which airs on the Bravo cable television network. The judges are drawn from some of America's most prestigious fashion design businesses and fashion and beauty publications. Michael Kors is a well-known American designer who has judged the event for all three seasons. Nina Garcia, the Fashion Director for the top-rated Elle magazine, is the other key judge, in addition to Kors and Klum. While Kors, Klum, and Garcia make up the judging panel's core, each episode features a third guest judge who is brought in based on the episode's style or challenge. In Season Buy a Runway, for example, world-class Olympian figure skater Sasha Cohen appeared on the panel to assist judge the skating outfits that the design participants had developed and constructed. The famous Diane Von Furstenberg, performer Sarah Hudson, and Miss USA Tara Conner were among the other guest judges. One of the most recent Project Runway tasks required competitors to sketch, design, and construct Tara Conner's Miss Universe evening gown.

The competition is centred in New York City, with Parsons School of Design hosting much of the design work and judging. Tim Gunn, the Chair of Fashion at Parsons, has become a leader for the show and coach to the finalists. "Make it Work" and "Carry On," two of his frequent reminders to designers, have become two of America's most renowned catchphrases. Tim Gunn's refined and calm approach to the creative process allows the designers to produce haute garments on a tight budget and even tighter timeline. Mood Designer Fabrics in the Garment District frequently gives each designer $100.00 to spend on an outfit that would appear to a consumer to be considerably over $1000.00 retail. The designers are under a lot of pressure because of the timing constraints. Each designer is given only a day or two to conceptualise, shop for, and produce personalised and unique pieces that speak to their individual artistic sensibilities. A set of fashion models chosen to appear on the show then wear each look on the runway. The judges take notes and assign a score to each design as it parades down the runway. After all of the looks have been exhibited, the designers are given a high, middle, or low score and are eliminated accordingly. In most episodes, one or two designers are eliminated.

When only three designers left, each is given a $8000.00 budget and sent home for three months to create a collection of 12 pieces to be displayed during New York Fashion Week. After all of the collections have been exhibited, Project Runway's winner is decided. He or she will receive $100,000, a new car, and an apprenticeship with a big fashion firm as well as a new car.

Our Lives Are Being Changed by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

I had a conversation with one of my clients last month. During the conversation, I discovered that cloud and SaaS technologies have altered the business landscape and are assisting business owners. My Customer saved roughly USD 2000 per month after implementing Cloud ERP because he no longer needed hardware, maintenance, or IT personnel.

I was just thinking about how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) might impact business owners and the industry. We see them throughout all stages of our lives nowadays, yet we can't tell them apart. They have become an integral part of our lives.
