Murals created with spray paint and wall paint in Arjun Garh Metro Station, New Delhi, India
Curated by St+Art India Foundation, commissioned by Singapore High Commission, Singapore Tourism Board and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation

The 'Art Stations project' is an endeavour by St+art India Foundation to transform transit spaces into walk in galleries for the public. Last year, the Govindpuri Metro station became the first such station in the city, and now the Arjan Garh Station has been transformed into a wonderfully vibrant space by Singaporean artists Sam Lo and Soph O (@waywardclouds) with gracious support from the Singapore High Commission, The Singapore tourism Board, @railcorporation@sanskritikendra@gdgoenkauniversity school and of course, @asianpaints .

Stimulated by their observations while travelling within the city, Sam and Soph picked on the intriguing sights of various birds seen flying or squatting everywhere -  from tree branches to traffic signs, railings etc, which they also found very common in Singapore. As our cities become more developed, spaces for animals and birds are reducing tremendously in our urban settings. Yet these birds adjust to their new surroundings and strive to carry their own legacy by inhabiting and surviving in these spaces. Through their work, the artists wanted to remind people about the beauty these creatures inherently possess, and pay homage to their spirit of survival.
