Giardini e no - Umberto Pasti | Visual book

Giardini e no - Umberto Pasti
Visual book (Bachelor Thesis Project)

For my Bachelor Degree I was asked to design a visual book.

A visual book offers the audience an amplified reading experience. Reading the book you also have the opportunity to experience the text through a more visual, sensorial and complete process.

Following the theme of the next Expo 2015 that will be hold in Milan, the selection of texts proposed was about nature and gardens. My project was based on the book of Umberto Pasti “Giardini e no”, an ironic narration about gardens, gardeners and the relationship between humans and nature.

Analyzing the structure of the book the decision was to amplify the particular characteristic
of every chapter, each of them describing a different type of garden with his correlated gardener.
Through typography, styles and papers every chapter was designed to be unique and expressive, declaring the opinions and critics of the author. The material appearance of the visual book reflect the intent and content of the original text, helping the reader to have a deeper understanding and feeling of it.
