US NAVY Naval Air Station fire crew.

Tasked w/monitoring aircraft fire risks, and with extinguishing any fires that occur. Which is quite frightening when you consider that the 'typical' aircraft they might have to deal with is carrying at least 800 gallons of VERY high octane jet fuel, to say nothing of possible munitions!

Factoid- the 'water cannon' on their Osh Kosh firetrucks pump a stream of water strong enough to physically MOVE a F-18, from over 100' away.

Fashion Story - Berry Hill Plantation, Halifax County Virginia

Factoid: The original home was built in 1770. Later on Berry Hill was enlarged- between 1837 and 1850, by its then owner - James Bruce, at that time the third wealthiest man in America, out ranked only by John Jacob Astor & Stephen Girard. It was said to have been one of the finest Greek Revival homes in all of the Mid-Atlantic. Shown in the image above, back left is the 'Billiard Room' a granite & stone building constructed solely to provide a place for entertainment of visitors to the Plantation.

Fashion Story - Grand Hotel Roanoke, Roanoke Virginia

Factoid: The Hotel Roanoke, built by the tycoon owner of both the Norfolk & Western Railways, with construction started in 1882, was built to provide lavish accommodation to rail travelers who needed on a break on their journey. At the time, Roanoke (then called simply 'Big Lick') now the center of business & trade in SW Virginia, was only a small rail stop. Frederick Kimball spared NO expense to build this lavish English Tudor structure - furnished with Tiffany lamps, running ice water, electricity, and all the amenities that we now take for granted, but at the time were seen as incredible luxuries.
