Biocarpet- Apple Murex Egg casing - Биотепих

Biocarpet - Textile Garden

The art work entitled Biocarpet- Apple Murex Egg casing aims to present the mysteries of the sea worlds and their natural structures, invisible, thus unknown to the naked eye, in the form of a textile sculpture-carpet. The subject of the artistic work is an experimental textile surface realized with the help of biomimetic generating principles. Special attention is paid to examining the possibility of applying tactile and biomimetic qualities on the development of nonwoven structural textile surfaces, whose functionality has been improved by research and application of appropriate forms or mechanisms from nature.
Exploring the unknown marine world and its structures has allowed me to upgrade my own sociology of culture through new and unexplored artistic visions, which have helped me articulate my artistic imagination more clearly. Current sociological topics that I use in my work, I express through the textile medium. My sphere of interest ranges from biomimicry in textiles to textile sculptures made of wool. The wool fibers that I shape using the felting technique allow me to realize artistic ideas into complex three-dimensional forms. By separating individual elements from nature and multiplying them through various structural variations, I tried to come up with new systems for building textile flora, which I connect into a unique, compact textile base. Such a form of textile structures is the bearer of aesthetic, but also functional content, which I define through the biomimetic and textile principle of construction. The artistic work enables the enrichment of the knowledge fund in the field of design of "passively smart" textile surfaces based on the postulates of biomimetics, which have not been researched and explored in detail in the domestic environment. The work of art presents concrete ways to implement modern experiences in practice and to enhance development of new structural values in the field of textile design and art. The work of art also presents new technological ways of achieving visual expression in the field of textile design.
The purpose of the artistic work Biocarpet-Apple Murex Egg casing is the realization of innovative textile structures that differ from the traditional way of forming textile surfaces. The work analyzes the influence of biomimetics in the context of nonwoven textile development with special emphasis on textile design and art. It enables the transformation and improvement of classical forms and primary functions of textiles into a visually new and utilitarian form, by applying appropriate biomimetic content. In addition, the aim of this work of art is to investigate the potentials of materials and characteristics of natural forms and the possible ways of their transposition into structural surfaces, as well as the possible artificial imitation of their natural functions. I transferred the content of natural shapes to the artistic values and characteristics of the surface and I defined the structure of textiles by their mutual relations. A further goal of the work is reflected in emphasizing the expressive possibilities of textiles, using structural characteristics that arise from the nature of the material I use. I have synthesized various art disciplines in the media and conceptual sense, which create new art forms from the unknown. The tactility of materials and their mutual communication encourage further research into new aesthetic and usable values. Individual creative freedom and the possibility of experimentation enabled me to create a unique art form.
