The Priceline iPhone app is in a constant state of motion. When I was initially hired in 2011, I researched, wire-framed, and designed the iOS 6 version of the app. The release of iOS7 the following year gave us the opportunity to rethink and improve upon the iOS6 experience. First, we gave the app a more flat and simplified appearance consistent with Apple’s guidelines. Then, we took a look to see what improvements could be made to help our users in their hotel search. Based on user testing and A/B testing, we added an entirely new feature called "Deals Near Me" to help people find hotels within a certain radius of their current location. We also added a map view to the Express Deal and Name Your Own Price product pages to make it easier for users to choose the right “zone”. Additional features that were added later include the ability to "favorite" a hotel, pay with ApplePay or PayPal, natively look up an upcoming trip, and most recently, unlocking special deals. More product features are constantly being developed and designed. I now oversee and continue to work with a small team of designers to constantly improve the quality and experience of the app.
