Education at Westminster Synagogue

Education at Westmister Synagogue
The Details
Westminster Synagogue was established in 1957. Today it is a strong, progressive Jewish Community and home for Jews of all ages in the London area, including myself. Alongside services Westminster provides a Jewish Education programme for all ages and many cultural events due to its ideal location.

During six weeks in the summer of 2013, I had the opportunity to return to Westminster and influence a wide variety of publications, websites and materials. I worked predominantly within the education programme, bringing it up to date whilst maintaining the elegance and history of the establishment.
Class Plaques and A Hebrew Calendar
Graphics in place in the Or Shabbat Classroom
Requirements
- A cohesive brand that fits in with the look of Kent House Knightsbridge, but appeals to a younger generation and gives them a separate identity.

- Graphics that are clear and easy for the synagogue staff to reproduce and maintain

- To encourage more interaction between the children and their resources, especially through using Hebrew signage.
The Result
At the end of my time at Westminster I had created new logos for all the educational programmes, as well as signage and educational materials for the Or Shabbat (Light of the Sabbath) classrooms. These are being used in many of the synagogue publications and are evident around the building. The children are really pleased with their new classroom and my colleague Jonathan has taken on the task of producing graphics while I am still at university.
