TiddlySpace.com FrontPage Redesign

Background
TiddlySpace.com is a website and service build by and provided by Osmosoft. The user base can be described as more technical. I wanted to examine the Frontpage to determine what it's purpose is and how it's being used. I felt we could redesign it to showcase the service better and in turn increase sign-ups.

Research
I approached this project using user centric principles. Firstly I conducted research with existing and new users. Secondly I interpreted my results to understand the users and their needs. Thirdly I created many versions of wireframes addressing the needs and performed additional testing to find the best layout. Lastly I graphically designed the new frontpage.

User Testing
I created distinct personas for new users and existing users. I examined the needs of each in detail; for new users I performing user obverstational testing via the UserTesting.com website, whereby users recorded their thoughts and experiences as they interacted with the frontpage and followed a defined set of instructions. For existing users I sent them a survey and was able to collate their feedback and opinions.
The Wireframes
Based on the research feedback, I created four wireframe designs showing different possible layout options. Additional user testing was performed against each and additional feedback from real users was obtained to rapidly design the optimal layout with the ideal level of functionality.
Based on the User Testing of the Wireframes, the below design was chosen. The designs which follow alter the colour and layout of components for additional A/B style User Testing.
Form Design Options
Error handing came out on top in the intial User Testing feedback, so I've added into the design a consistant approach to error and hint handling
