Assignment: Japanese Notan

Description: In this project the challenge is to create a Notan design that evokes delight through attractive composition, playful symmetry, unique shape combinations, and clever artistic choices.

Sketch: In this sketch I tried to flip everything so on one side a portion would be black and the other white. As well as incorporating the aspects of symmetry, knockout, and pattern.

Final Notan: In making this I had cut out all the pieces with an x-acto blade then glue and place everything in the right places. The hardest part of this project was cutting out all the small details.
