REP (Animation Week)
This week as we learn more about animation, I have picked up more on a few things but especially highlights. In order for an animation to go smoothly and naturally, light plays a major role.
Highlights & Contrast:
Here, there is obviously a girl jumping around in puddles. In this position, she is bent down, ready to jump. It looks like there is light coming from the right side which is creating shadows on her pants and the hood of her jacket. There is also a contrast on the puddle showing that light is reflecting.
Color:
Here we have a lot of different hues of blue and yellow. There is also a reddish hue creating the orange hair. The yellow color is a primary color whereas the orange color is a secondary color which works well in this case. Again, on the puddle, the artist alluded to a light source by creating a different shade of blue along the puddle.
Alignment:
Usually when images are dead centered, it creates a lack in artistic value, but because this is an animation, it is more typically to find visuals centered because they are moving. In this case, the girl is jumping vertically which breaks the pattern.
