Fidelio is a Cafe and Orchestra based in London, with the aim of making classical music more open and accessible to a wider public. The cornerstone for the new visual identity is a custom adaptation of typeface Tobias, developed with the help of Prague-based foundry Displaay and featuring custom glyphs and ligatures inspired by the use of type in the Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts and Vienna Secession movements.

As the new corporate typeface, Tobias Fidelio is featured in the logos for Fidelio Cafe and Fidelio Orchestra; and across printed and digital media, often with one-off ligatures and type adjustments. The overall objective was striking a balance between retro and contemporary, refined and inclusive, in line with Fidelio’s general mission.
For Fidelio’s facade in Clerkenwell Road, a top panel in gold leaf inspired to traditional London shop fronts was commissioned to hand painter Alex Rayment
