Being chosen to shoot the revolutionary Robert Mondavi® x Bernardaud® NFT Collection was an incredible privilege. At the centre of creativity is the goal to amplify the beauty and elegance of the subject itself. With these bottles - created by the iconic porcelain manufacturer Bernardaud, RMW really presented us with a subject like no other.

How did you conceptualize that shot?

Like most of my projects, my goal is to amplify the beauty of the subject itself. In this case, the bottles - created by the iconic Porcelain manufacturer Bernardaud, are a stunning hand applied metallic finish. I wanted a concept that would showcase that finish. It's all about the reflections.

How would you describe the result?

The end result is an unexpectedly vibrant, energetic environment full of light and reflections, that despite being busy, still draws your eye straight to the bottle. That was quite the challenge.

Why did you choose the setting/lighting that you did?

Again, the metallic bottles are all about reflections. They needed the right type of environment to showcase the hand-applied finish. The mylar tubes we made spoke to the shape of the bottles, as well as mirroring the colors of the set. Color compounds multiple times over to become richer.

What did you build for this shoot?

The entire set was built in my shop, next to the studio in Ojai. We sourced some great reflective materials  - colored mirrors, mylar, all kinds of things, and we were able to play to see where inspiration took us. In the end, we used a square piece of anti-glare mirror for the surface, several tubes of thick reflective mylar, and colors from the Quasar and Hive LED lights to create the feel.
