BRIEF
This brief was quite an open brief and simply encouraged students to create a vinyl album artwork for a chosen set of music. The artwork and album design needed to be inspired by the music of choice. The execution was entirely up to the student.
CONCEPT
My chosen genre of music was trance, specifically a set played by Ebb and Flow (Tristan Henning and Matt Scrimgour for Woo Dog Recordings) at a trance festival called Altered States Sunspot Activity in 2018.

I chose to step away from the expected psychedelic visuals that are usually used for this genre and instead went with a very geometric vortex that has layers that run through the transparent cover and vinyl. This is representative of the many layers of psychedelic trance. The main image is reminiscent of a sun that has become a self-perpetuating vortex, representing the auditory sense of face-paced, looping movement that is alway associated with music of this bpm and genre.

The round, organic shape is balanced with the geometric feel of the wireframe-like style, which again represents the perfect balance between electronic and organic sounds that can be found in this specific set of trance.

THE MUSIC
The set can be found here on SoundCloud - go give it some love!
