First, draw the portrait on a cartridge sheet with a light hand.
Then, make different tonal forms in stippling within the portrait drawing using a black uniball pen. Do it carefully with tonal variations without giving any sharp edge or difference between the tones. The tones should be merged.
In summary, gradual stippling gives the tonal variations required for depth and volume in an artwork.
