A winner of the Best Short Documentary Film award for his movie Thriving on the Spectrum, Scott Klumb, a Boulder, Colorado native, produces movies through his own studio, SMK Media. Based in Boulder, CO, Scott Klumb makes movies about mental health in order to raise awareness, understanding and empathy among his viewers.

Scott Klumb has been inspired by films like A Beautiful Mind that presents the audience with the true story of a great mathematician who slowly slips into schizophrenia. The film starts with John Forbes Nash Jr., a mathematician who teaches at Princeton University. The movie stars Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly, who play Nash and his wife. Nash eventually wins a Nobel Prize for his discoveries in game theory that impact the entire world, though he also begins to lose his mind with every passing day due to his illness.

The delusions start to take over Nash's life, and he believes he is chased by federal agents, which leads to Nash being treated for schizophrenia by a psychiatrist who treats him with insulin shock therapy. The story explores this treatment, which is more or less successful, and he slowly returns to his previous life as an academic at Princeton.
