The Trunk of Cassandra Alexandra Cain

The history of Cassandra Alexandra Cain is very vague. However, it is known that she lived during 17th century in Barbados with her “family” who exported sugar. It is said that there is a forbidden love story involving Cassandra and a Jamaican pirate by the name of Anthony Cain who she eventually runs away with and marries creating a lineage of passionate artists.  It is not known whether Cassandra or her ancestors were slaves before their arrival in America. However, ancestral documents do acknowledge her American ancestors as slaves who farmed sugar cane in Columbia, South Carolina during the 1800’s.
Charged with the duty of keeping her family’s heritage alive, Cassandra inherits a trunk of artifacts from her Grandmother upon her death.  As the new Guardian, she finds generations of Guardians have filled the trunk with family heritage, love stories and art.  Once the trunk is passed down to the new Guardian, it must be cataloged and the name of the new Guarding is sealed in a scroll never to be opened. These precious artifacts are given to one woman of her lineage called the key holder upon the death of the Guardian or until the new Guardian is revealed.
The position of the Guardian is not revealed until she has reached at least her 5th cycle of life allowing time for maturity, self-discovery and growth.  The Guardian must continue this tradition by storing these artifacts and adding precious items from her life until her death or the new Guardian is revealed.  The only known Guardian not of her lineage to posses the trunk for a time was said to be her closest friend, muse and the only person who knew about her love affair with The Pirate Cain.  Her portrait remains in the trunk as a reminder of friendship, dedication and an everlasting bond among the two.
During the Civil War the trunk went missing from the family Gaurdians for sometime. It was then the trunk of Cassandra Cain was placed in the care of an unknown Key Holder until now.  As I complete my 5th Life Cycle I have now become the new Guardian of Cassandra Cain’s trunk.
