插画项目-白天的房子，夜晚的房子
Illustration Project- House of Day，House of Night
这个项目是为奥尔加.托卡尔丘克的魔幻现实主义小说《白天的房子，夜晚的房子》的其中一章所作的插图。本章讲述了年轻人马雷克一生是如何被困于悲剧的命运中，并化为魂灵游荡在小镇。
小说吸引我的地方在于作者将神秘和奇特性寓于日常生活之中。它由数十个文体各异的短篇组成，故事中的时间从远古时代，中世纪跨越到现当代，作者把传说，神话，史诗与现实结合，整部小说有着碎片式的，互相间隐含呼应的叙事节奏。
为了通过视觉语言去表现文本的魔幻基调和复杂性：我搜集了故事的发生点---波兰的新鲁达的居民，建筑，公路，景物等图像，作为画中环境营造的根据。并利用了多点透视去同步展现多角度的人物，景物，和建筑的内外部。我试着将形形色色的人事物，以超出常态的透视关系混搭在一起。让观众在互相混杂的视觉意象中不断游移视线，去转译梦与现实交织的奇幻叙事。
This project is an illustration for one of the chapters of the magical realism novel "House by Day, House by Night" by Nobel Prize winner Olga Tokarchuk. This chapter tells how the young man Marek was trapped in a tragic fate throughout his life and turned into a spirit wandering in the town.
What attracts me to the novel is that the author puts mystery and strangeness into daily life. It consists of dozens of short stories of various styles, combining legends, myths, epics and reality, with fragmented and implicitly echoing narrative rhythms. The time range of the story ranges from ancient times to the middle ages to modern times. These story takes place in the author’s hometown called New Ruda, a small town in the Sicilian region with special history behind it: the area was originally from Germany, was invaded by the Soviet Union, and was allocated to Poland after World War II, and the Poles moved in the house of the expelled German, expanding the life span of the former owner’s belongings. This historical and cultural dislocation and overlap are very interesting.
In order to showcase the magical tone and complexity of the text through visual language， I collected images of residents, buildings, roads, and scenery of New Ruda as the basis for the construction of the environment in the painting. I applied David Hockney's visual technique：multi-point perspective, to synchronously show people, scenery, and the interior and exterior of buildings from multiple angles. I try to mix all kinds of people and things together in an abnormal perspective relationship. Using visual images that are intermingled with each other, to show the fantasy narrative interwoven with reality and the amorphous causality, allowing the audience to explore and wander in it.
