Alja and New WEAVE team have been working on this for the past two months and they've created a long sleeve t-shirt which will be made from 100% organic cotton. Everything is made in Portugal with organic or recycled materials.

INSPIRATION BEHIND THE ARTWORK
Being nostalgic for things you’ve never experienced is an odd feeling.
Longing for a bygone era.
I’m listening to music non-stop while I’m creating and “Season of the Witch “ by Donovan is one of the songs that invokes feelings of nostalgia in me and also the one this design was inspired by. I wasn’t even born yet when the song was released, because I was born in 1996, but I often think about how it was to hear some of my favourite songs on the radio for the first time.
I’m a nostalgic person and I love to reminisce about the good old days and even about the times I wasn’t even born yet and how life was back then. With this design I wanted to capture the beauty of nostalgia and my love for the sixties. You know, having my own “Midnight in Paris” (movie where Owen Wilson is miraculously “transported” back to the 20s in Paris) wouldn’t be so bad. This is only possible in movies, but we can still create our own corner of magic in so many other ways.
The main inspiration behind this piece was the design, freedom of the shapes and colours of the sixties and on the other hand, the infinity of the universe and the circularness of life.
I wanted this design, even if it was inspired by my own feelings for the sixties, to be the feeling for nostalgia for whatever you’re longing for.
WHY I DECIDED TO WORK WITH THEM
Sustainability is very important to me and we need to realise that we can make a difference. New Weave’s priorities are the same as mine. Everything will be made-to-order, to cut down potential waste with unsold overstock.
Working as an illustrator/designer I created patterns for many amazing fashion brands. While I loved doing that, I wanted to be included in other parts of the creative process as well. I realized it could be something special, if I designed a collection with my own prints and clothing designs. But producing an ethical and sustainable fashion collection can be very expensive. New Weave is giving me an opportunity to be involved in the whole process.
I’m so grateful to be working with people who are professionals in their fields and be able to learn from them during the process.
