Here's a study of a beautiful John Harris piece I love - the original called "Saturn". I've replaced the planet Saturn of his original with a giant robot head - a nod (pardon the pun!) to the original Transformers movie of the 80s. In the Transformers movie, an enormous robot gets decapitated, and its head becomes of the Transformers' planet's moons... an idea that has fascinated me for decades. The spaceships were 3D art I made, kit-bashing pieces together from KitBash 3D - but I've tried hard to make everything look very 'painterly' here (right down to the canvas being visible underneath), to again emulate that 70s and 80s feel of sci-fi art. There's something about the organic, 'messy' look of physical painting that really brings them to life.
