Bit Crush 2021 Mascot Design

Bit Crush 2021 Mascot Design
For this project, I have designed a mascot for the charity event Bit Crush, which is held at my college every year to raise money for Demelza. All mascots that are made will get judged, and the winners mascot gets put on posters, banners and other forms of media to promote the event.
The link above will take you to my mood boards that I created on Google Slides to help me visualise my inspirations for this project.
Concept Art
I experimented with two different types of arcade machines for my main concepts. First, I drew them as inanimate objects to get used to their sizes and shapes. Then I added limbs, faces and other items to give them a personality.
Experimental Designs
These are some other experimental designs that I made but didn't end up using, because they didn't really fit in with the theme of Bit Crush.
Also, these are some different designs for facial expressions and limbs for my mascot. I put stars next to some of my favorite ones.
Final Design
This little guy is called Blocky, and is the final outcome of my project. To create this piece of work, I used Adobe Illustrator. I tried to keep the design of the character similar to 1980s video games, with the overall design, colour pallet and propeller hat.

Pixel Art Version
At the end of this project I had some time left, so I decided to make a pixel art version of my mascot using Adobe Photoshop. This is also a demonstration of Blocky in a different format.
