Since our species became aware, our imaginations have filled the darkness. Where there are voids of knowledge, we look for patterns and meaning and we create stories based on our hopes and fears to fill those voids. The darkness is a mirror. When we encounter darkness, we see our own reflection. These are the origins of myth, legends, and folklore.

As we make our first tentative steps into the void of space, what folklore and myths will we create about the unknowns we will encounter? Hyperborea is a myth of an imagined future. A dangerous, impenetrable region of space which future folk have filled with their hopes and fears. The abstract imagery and ambient score invite the viewer to quiet contemplation, to interpret what they experience based on their own histories, hopes and fears.

Hyperborea is loosely based on a Greek myth of a divinely blessed land in an otherwise frigid far northern part of the known world.
