System Design Project- Souvenirs

The project was to study the ceramic industrial cluster of Khurja and expand their range of products, keeping their skills and production process in mind. The idea was to have a range of souvenir products in ceramics for different cities and places.  Ahmedabad, Gujarat has been taken as an example for the same.

Chabutras (bird feeders) form an important feature  of the rich architecture of Ahmedabad. They are found all over the old city. Chabutras hold both religious and social significance among the local people.
Kitli culture (the concept of having chai/ tea at the roadside tea stalls) is another very distinct feature of Ahmedabad. Various tea stalls can be found at every five minute walking distance where people from all walks of life enjoy their tiny cups of tea and leisure time.  The size of the tea cups or glass available  is very distinct. The quantity of tea served in the cups is 60 ml as compared to 120 ml of standard tea cup.

Thus, combining these two features of the city of Ahmedabad, Souvenir - Chabutra and Chai         (a set of  kettle and two cups) has been designed.
