Evan A Weitz's profile

The ACS-Advancing Chemistry through Networking

Evan August Weitz holds a doctor of philosophy degree in organic and analytical chemistry from the University of Minnesota. True to his educational background, Evan August Weitz maintains active membership in various chemistry organizations, including the American Chemical Society (ACS).
Founded in 1876, the ACS aims to improve people’s lives through chemistry by advancing the chemistry enterprise and practitioners. Chartered by the United States Congress, the organization currently has more than 155,000 members in 150 countries.

The ACS primarily publishes authoritative scientific journals, with more than 65 highly ranked, widely cited, and read peer-reviewed journals, 8700 publications by chemistry Nobel laureates, and more than 165 million registered chemical substances. Secondly, the organization empowers the members to network, build careers and collaborate to advance chemistry and mutually provide solutions through innovation and research, science inclusion in public policies, and sustainability. The ACS also supports students through grants and scholarships, including internship and placement programs such as the Summer Experiences for the Economically Disadvantaged (SEED).

The ACS offers four membership levels, each with a different membership fee. Regular membership targets chemistry or related science degrees, significant work history, or chemical science teacher certification holders. Non-scientist affiliate members, on the other hand, work in a field directly related to chemistry, but not enough to qualify as regular members. The third and fourth categories are the graduate and undergraduate students' membership packages.
