Antigram Mirror (concept)
Earlier this month I was shocked by a Wall Street Journal's article called Facebook Knows Instagram Is Toxic for Teen Girls, Company Documents Show, by By Georgia Wells, Jeff Horwitz and Deepa Seetharaman.

It moved me to conceptualize a real life piece which could synthesize the evil that social media has been doing to people, specially young girls.

After a while, the idea of this synthesis came to me in the shape of a broken mirror.

After all, that's what social media really is: A virtual broken mirror which breakes people for money without remorse.

So, here is the Antigram Mirror:
You should read the article, but I'll take the liberty to quote some parts, for contextualization purposes.

“32% of teen girls said that when they felt bad about their bodies, Instagram made them feel worse,”

“Comparisons on Instagram can change how young women view and describe themselves.”

“We make body image issues worse for one in three teen girls,”

“Teens blame Instagram for increases in the rate of anxiety and depression,”

"Among teens who reported suicidal thoughts, 13% of British users and 6% of American users traced the desire to kill themselves to Instagram, one presentation showed."
And more:
“Aspects of Instagram exacerbate each other to create a perfect storm,”

"Facebook found that more than 40% of Instagram users who reported feeling “unattractive” said the feeling began on the app. About a quarter of the teens who reported feeling “not good enough” said the feeling started on Instagram."

“They often feel ‘addicted’ and know that what they’re seeing is bad for their mental health but feel unable to stop themselves.”

“We’re leaning towards calling it an obsession.”

“It’s the ones who are most vulnerable or are already developing a problem—the use of Instagram and other social media can escalate it,”
PS: This is still a concept, but I intend to produce a few limited units for selected galleries. Let me know if you're interest.
