Marmelade – Die Oberschicht fürs Brot

Marmelade
Die Oberschicht fürs Brot

Exhibition
We know jam as a sweet spread, as a garnish for pastries or as a decoration for cookies and cookies. But not so long ago, preserving fruits with sugar was inevitably necessary to enjoy the fruits of summer even in winter. And without candying, northern countries would have known southern fruits only a few decades ago.

The aim was to develop an exhibition about jam as part of the super-theme "Preservation". In the exhibition, one can learn about the origin and history of the sweet spread and learn more about its production.

We decided to create a jam configurator as a part of the exhibition, which allows people to create a jam recipe from their own selected ingredients. This is printed in the form of a receipt that you can take away as a souvenir.

The exhibition is built in the form of a semicircle of eight long banners. Two of the eight banners are longer and pass under the exhibit columns.

From the outside, the banners are colored in an orange gradient, which creates an association with the jam jar. The history of jam, the biological process of preservation and the classifications (e.g. jelly, jam, marmalade) are thematized.

After visiting the exhibition, you can have a specially configured jam recipe printed on a bond printer and take it home with you
