Nessa série de vídeos bem humorados, a Toyota passa ao consumidor uma mensagem sobre a importância do uso de suas peças originais, já que o que é "quase igual" pode resultar em algo muito diferente do esperado e é potencialmente perigoso.
In this series of humorous videos, Toyota gives to consumers a message about the importance of using their original parts, since what is just "almost the same" can result in something very different from expected and potentially dangerous.
COMO FOI FEITO
Para produzir as animações com a técnica de rotoscopia, recebi da produtora a filmagem com os atores e um fundo em chromakey. Com esse material, desenhei frame a frame as ações dos personagens e a sua interação com alguns objetos. Depois foram adicionados outros itens e cenários estáticos para algumas cenas. Os desenhos precisavam ser simples, com um contorno capaz de sintetizar as formas e ser compreensível quando em movimento. Além disso, algumas partes simplesmente não existiam na filmagem e foram adicionadas ou completadas com animações do zero, por isso, chamamos essa mistura de técnicas de "rotoanimação". Ao final, enviei os frames com objetos separados em layers para a composição e motion design em After Effects pela Assembly.
HOW IT WAS DONE
To develop this animations using a rotoscopy technique, I received the footage from the producer, with the actors over chromakey. With this material, I drew frame by frame the action of the characters and his interaction with some objects. Then, it was also added static itens and backgrounds to some scenes. The drawings needed to be simple, with an outline that could synthesize shapes and be understandable with movement. Also, some parts simply didn't exist in the footage and were added or supplemented with animations from scratch, so we call this mix of techniques "rotoanimation". Finally, I sent the frames with objects splitted in layers to the motion design work and composition in After Effects by Assembly.

A Toyota adorou o projeto e pediu novos vídeos no ano seguinte (2018) e novamente em 2021 (publicação em breve)! Então a produtora Assembly também me chamou para fazermos novas animações com esta técnica para a série.

Toyota loved the project and ordered new videos the following year (2018) and again in 2021 (coming soon)! So Assembly also invited me to make more rotomations for the series.
