Broken Possessions

'Broken Possessions'
‘Broken Possessions’ is an observational project documenting what households dispose of in their hard waste collection. Depending on location, number of residents, dwelling size and level of disposable income, these factors contribute to what a household throws away when their collection is due. Over the span of nine months, this series acts as a journal for the objects abandoned and the detachment from their human counterparts.

The ownership of these possessions is a relationship that this projects aims to dismantle. Following an object-orientated-ontology, objects exist separately from human possession and operate as their own being. With this idea, I have given names to each of these piles using the street names as a way to give them their own sense of identity.
