Bakhour/ Incense Package Design
“Bakhour” or Arabian Gum Incense is a very luxurious gift with various uses that doesn’t have a local brand. Therefore, I decided to create a new line of “Bakhour” products under the imaginary brand name Oud Beirut that can positively affect our mental and spiritual health. The 3 packages include: Bakhour Al Morra for battling the evil eye, Bakhour Al Sandal for raising positive vibes, and Bakhour Al Oud for providing wisdom and truth.
Visually, each package has a unique cubist style character illustration on the front to reflect the effect of the Bakhour with an arabesque pattern in the background. The colors used reflect the elegance of a high end brand. The font chosen reflects the heritage of luxurious Arabian products.
Structurally, I created a new form for the “Bakhour” jar, which has an incense holder at the top of the jar lid. The lid of the jar has a hole closed from the bottom about the width and depth of a carbon coal which can be heated to use the incense inside. The lid is a dark color to avoid the appearance of carbon residues caused from the burning coal. The jar is placed within a cardboard box for protection and to serve as a gift box.
